Chaos has released Chaos Vantage 3 Update 4, version 3.4.0, bringing expanded material and texture support, new camera controls, DLSS 4.5, Fire & Smoke simulation improvements, enhanced scene-management tools, and a range of performance and stability fixes.
The update adds several features for users working with V-Ray scenes and connected DCC applications, including OpenPBR, VRScans, V-Ray Curvature, V-Ray Enmesh, additional VRayMtl parameters, MaterialX nodes, and new scene and camera controls.
Vantage 3.4.0 expands compatibility with materials and textures used in V-Ray and MaterialX workflows.
The update adds:
V-Ray Distance textures can be used in Vantage, but creating and editing them directly inside Vantage is not currently supported.
Chaos also lists V-Ray Enmesh support among the highlights for Vantage 3.4.0.
The update adds support for V-Ray light decay options, expanding the V-Ray lighting properties that can be recognized in Vantage.
Vantage can also create basic mesh objects directly in the application. Available objects include:
These objects have editable parameters. Support has also been added for the compute_normals and smooth_angle mesh parameters.
Vantage 3.4.0 adds new Focus mode options for camera depth of field:
The update also supports animated field of view (FOV), zoom, and orthographic width values received from the DCC application.
Scene States now store additional object and material properties, including Fur, Scatter, and Decal properties.
The Scene Outliner also gains a new Layers view, which displays layers created in the connected DCC application. Creating new layers and reordering existing layers are not currently supported.
Two new dialogs provide more information about scene edits:
The Object Lister also adds visibility filters for Show All, Show Visible, and Show Hidden.
Vantage 3.4.0 adds include/exclude object lists for Wet Effects and global Ambient Occlusion.
This provides object-level control over which scene elements are included in these effects.
The former Fluid Simulator is now called the Fire & Smoke Simulator.
The update improves its setup, quality, and performance with:
Simulation caches now store additional metadata. When using Cache mode on simulation domain objects, users can switch between render settings stored in the cache and custom render settings.
Chaos Vantage 3.4.0 upgrades NVIDIA DLSS to version 4.5 and adds a new DLSS preset selector.
The update also introduces a Max Texture Resolution option that limits the size of loaded mipmapped textures to help reduce memory usage.
Scene loading has been improved through asynchronous loading of .vrmesh and .abc files. Chaos also fixed a memory leak associated with DLSS Frame Generation.
Vantage 3.4.0 includes several improvements for Chaos Anima, including better stability and recovery when an Anima crash occurs.
The update also adds visibility control for Anima scene objects and addresses several Anima-related memory, texture, vehicle-material, and command-line loading issues.
For Chaos Cosmos, procedural materials that were previously inaccessible in Vantage are now exposed.
The VRayMtl node in the Material Node Editor now uses ordered input slots and a four-tab layout.
Other workflow updates include:
Windows toast notifications are also available for available updates, completed renders and sequences, saved snapshots, and warnings or errors.
Vantage 3.4.0 also addresses issues across materials, textures, rendering, Live Link, Anima, Fire & Smoke, Volume Grid, VR, lighting, Scene States, and the user interface.
Notable fixes include problems involving:
These fixes complement the larger feature updates in Vantage 3.4.0 and address a broad range of rendering, scene-management, simulation, and UI issues.
Chaos Vantage 3.4.0 expands the application's support for modern materials and V-Ray scene data while adding new tools for cameras, simulations, scene states, and real-time rendering workflows.
The key additions include OpenPBR, VRScans, V-Ray Enmesh, V-Ray Curvature, expanded VRayMtl parameters, MaterialX node support, DLSS 4.5, Fire & Smoke improvements, new camera focus modes, basic mesh creation, scene-layer views, and scene-change tracking.
For existing Vantage users, the release also brings a substantial set of fixes and performance improvements across the application's rendering and workflow systems.
