The Pixel Lab has released an update for Blender metal materials with the Mutating Materials Pack – Metal Edition, a library designed for fast iteration and realistic metal surfaces in Blender. Built for Cycles and Eevee, the pack introduces a mutation-based workflow that lets artists move through natural metal variations aging, wear, and decay without manual shader tweaking.

The pack includes 10 base metals aluminum, bronze, brass, chrome, copper, gold, iron, platinum, silver, and steel with over 260 total materials. All textures are 4K, seamless, and PBR-based, built using real-world references so they behave correctly under light. The materials work in Cycles and Eevee, and they’re designed for quick iteration rather than deep customization.

Installation is handled through Blender’s Asset Browser, with materials organized by metal type for easy access. Once installed, they’re ready to use with minimal setup.

If metals are a regular part of your Blender workflow, this update is worth checking out.
