Maxon has released Red Giant 2026.5, bringing updates to Real Lens Flares, Trapcode Particular, and other Red Giant tools. The release introduces support for zoom and aspherical lenses, improves particle workflow performance, adds Spanish language support, and includes stability fixes across several plugins.
Real Lens Flares simulates the optical characteristics of real-world camera lenses, helping artists create realistic lens flare effects for compositing and motion graphics.
In previous releases, zoom lenses relied on fixed focal length presets. Red Giant 2026.5 introduces a dedicated Zoom control, allowing focal length to be adjusted continuously and animated without switching between separate lens presets.
The update also adds support for aspherical lenses, expanding the lens library with more modern optical characteristics commonly used in commercial and cinematic production. To support these new options, the release includes 44 additional lens presets.
Trapcode Particular, Red Giant's particle system for creating effects such as smoke, dust, sparks, rain, and abstract motion graphics, now offers more control over project loading.
A new preference lets users choose how many particle systems load by default, with options for 2, 4, 8, or all 16 systems. Loading fewer systems can reduce project load and reset times, particularly in larger After Effects projects.
The selected preference applies to all Particular instances and takes effect after restarting After Effects.
Red Giant 2026.5 adds native Spanish localization across the Red Giant suite.
When a supported host application is configured to Spanish, Red Giant plugins automatically display their interface in the same language, providing a more consistent experience for Spanish-speaking users.
Alongside its new features, Red Giant 2026.5 includes a broad set of fixes that improve reliability across the plugin suite.
Highlights include:
These fixes improve overall stability while addressing workflow issues reported across multiple Red Giant plugins.
