INSYDIUM has released NeXus 2026.1 Beta, bringing NeXus to Cinema 4D and Blender on the same Theron GPU simulation engine.

The update introduces the new nxMPM multi-material solver, along with new tools and workflow improvements for particles, materials, deformation, constraints, procedural growth, liquids, collisions, meshing, falloffs, and viewport control.

What Is INSYDIUM NeXus 2026.1 Beta?

INSYDIUM NeXus 2026.1 Beta is a GPU-accelerated particle and simulation system for Cinema 4D and Blender.

With version 2026.1, NeXus for Cinema 4D runs on the same Theron engine used by NeXus for Blender. The shared engine contains the NeXus solvers, modifiers, and particle system, while Cinema 4D and Blender provide their respective host workflows.

The release also introduces nxMPM, a multi-material solver for liquid, elastic, snow, sand, brittle, metal, and foam materials.

What's New in NeXus 2026.1 Beta?

The main additions include:

  • A shared Theron-based NeXus system for Cinema 4D and Blender
  • The new nxMPM multi-material solver
  • New tools including nxMaterial, nxDeformer, nxPin, nxBind, and nxBioLogic
  • Expanded falloff and mapping controls
  • New FLIP liquid, collision, meshing, and caching features
  • A shared viewport renderer
  • Integration with Cinema 4D's native GPU particles and Pyro
  • Additional Blender and Cinema 4D workflow updates

NeXus 2026.0 vs. 2026.1

NeXus 2026.0 established the new GPU simulation system for Blender. With NeXus 2026.1 Beta, the same Theron-based system extends to Cinema 4D, while the release adds nxMPM and a broader set of simulation and workflow tools.

This means NeXus now uses a common engine across both supported host applications.

One NeXus System for Cinema 4D and Blender

Theron is the GPU simulation engine behind NeXus. In 2026.1, both the Cinema 4D and Blender versions use the same Theron engine, including the NeXus solvers, modifiers, and particle system.

A NeXus license works in both Cinema 4D and Blender. INSYDIUM also states that an existing NeXus for Blender license can be used with NeXus in Cinema 4D at no additional cost.

nxMPM Multi-Material Solver

The main new solver in NeXus 2026.1 is nxMPM, which supports multiple material behaviors within a single simulation.

Supported materials include:

  • Liquid
  • Elastic
  • Snow
  • Sand
  • Brittle
  • Metal
  • Foam

nxMPM includes two solver modes, resolution controls with a grid memory estimate, openable walls, and nxCollider support.

The material mixer can change materials based on conditions such as age, speed, stretch, and damage. Fracture can also be used to break materials apart.

An auto-sleep function stops computing particles that are at rest until a collider, force, or grid interaction wakes them.

New NeXus Simulation Tools

NeXus 2026.1 adds several tools for simulation control, deformation, constraints, and procedural growth.

nxMaterial creates an emitter with an MPM material ready for simulation.

nxDeformer uses particle movement to drive a mesh. It can tear and remesh when the mesh stretches beyond its limit. In Blender, it can also subdivide and deform curves.

nxPin can hold selected particles in place for cloth, rope, and soft-body simulations. Particles can be selected using falloffs, groups, ID lists, particle data, objects, or birth conditions.

nxBind holds particles inside a deforming volume and can release them based on conditions such as age, life, speed, or temperature.

nxBioLogic adds procedural growth modes including reaction-diffusion, differential growth, physarum, particle life, coral, and primordial modes, with tube mesh output.

Expanded Falloffs and Controls

The Beta adds nine new falloff shapes, including Torus, Capsule, Cone, Spline, and Attribute.

Falloff layers can invert, clamp, remap, step, quantize, curve, cycle, freeze, decay, delay, and grow their influence. Each modifier layer can also have its own falloff list, and the release adds a new nxFalloff Modifier.

Other control updates include:

  • Cyclic layers in nxColor and nxFlowField
  • Saved emitter initial states stored in the scene or a file
  • Multiple nxEmitter display channels
  • One mapping layer driving multiple parameters
  • Emitter resolution matching the solver resolution
  • New nxQuestion sleep controls and particle state flags

FLIP Liquids, Collisions, and Meshing

NeXus 2026.1 adds new controls for liquid simulations.

FLIP liquids gain support for thick non-Newtonian liquids, liquid density controls, wall friction, and coloring based on viscosity or density.

nxCollider adds adhesion controls including Stick Distance, Creep, Pull, Escape Speed, and Stringing. Variation can also be applied to Bounce, Friction, Scatter, and Expand. Surface maps can use vertex maps, attributes, color, images, or noise.

nxMesher adds UV advection so textures can move with the liquid, along with Detail Aware smoothing and nxGroups support.

nxCache can record a selected frame range and stops with a warning when the disk becomes full.

Cinema 4D Integration

In Cinema 4D 2025.3 or later, NeXus can connect with Cinema 4D's native GPU particles and Pyro.

NeXus can send particles to Cinema 4D's GPU particle system and read them back. nxExplosiaFX and Pyro can also exchange smoke and fire, allowing NeXus and Cinema 4D's native systems to work together in the same scene.

The Beta also adds a NeXus Project Settings tab with document substeps in Cinema 4D.

Blender-Specific Updates

The Beta includes several Blender-specific changes.

Collection Instances can be used as colliders and as mesh inputs for modifiers that accept mesh objects.

Falloffs can read vertex maps, and nxQuestion gains a GLSL script editor.

Quill can use a user's own AI provider, and Windows ARM64 is supported in the Beta.

Viewport and Workflow Updates

NeXus 2026.1 introduces a shared viewport renderer for Cinema 4D and Blender, with improved voxel drawing for FLIP, nxExplosiaFX, and nxFlowField.

The Add menu is organized into Presets, Generators, Dynamics, and Modifiers.

Other workflow changes include a new nxGenerator mode with tabbed settings, per-layer color in nxDendrite, create buttons for nxFoam and nxSheeter, and spline thickness controls in nxCover.

Powered by Theron

Theron is the GPU simulation engine used by NeXus.

INSYDIUM built Theron around a Vulkan foundation and its own GPU compute core. It supports NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel GPUs on Windows and Linux, as well as Apple Metal on macOS.

NeXus requires a modern GPU with current drivers and at least 4GB of VRAM.

Cinema 4D and Blender Requirements

NeXus 2026.1 Beta supports:

Cinema 4D: R19 or later on Windows and macOS.

Blender: 4.3 or later on Windows, macOS, and Linux, including Blender 4.5 LTS and Blender 5 and newer.

On Windows and Linux, NeXus requires Vulkan support. On macOS, it requires Metal 3 and macOS 13.0 or later. The accelerated viewport in this Beta requires macOS 26.4 or later.

How to Get the NeXus 2026.1 Beta

The NeXus 2026.1 Beta is free for INSYDIUM license holders.

Users without an INSYDIUM license can request a free Beta license through their INSYDIUM Customer Account.

While the Beta is active, INSYDIUM licenses also provide access to the INSYDIUM Fused collection in Cinema 4D, including X-Particles, Taiao, TerraformFX, MeshTools, and Jidou.

NeXus Licensing

NeXus is available as a perpetual license. The license does not expire, and 12 months of updates are included from the purchase date.

A NeXus license covers both Cinema 4D and Blender.

INSYDIUM states that customers who own INSYDIUM Fused or X-Particles receive 50% off NeXus.
