Blackmagic Design has released DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1.1, a maintenance update to DaVinci Resolve 21.1. The update adds Trim Editor improvements, new format support, Fusion fixes, asynchronous APIs, subtitle and multicam fixes, collaboration improvements, and general performance and stability updates.


What's New in DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1.1?

Trim Editor Improvements

DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1.1 adds several updates to the Trim Editor:

  • Viewer actions now affect all selected edit points.
  • Mouse-based edit actions now include audio previews.
  • The Trim Editor now supports editing audio-only clips.
  • Dynamic Trim loop playback around selections has been addressed.

Fusion and Effects Fixes

The update addresses several issues affecting Fusion and effects:

  • Multiple Fusion effects on a clip are now handled separately in the Inspector.
  • Fixed transitions on clips using foreground composite mode.
  • Addressed occasional Magic Mask slowdowns in the Fusion page.
  • Fixed Halation controls in Film Look Creator.
  • Improved OGraf caching, animation sizing, outro behavior, and path relinking.

RAW and Audio Format Support

DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1.1 adds:

  • CR3 RAW decoding for the Canon EOS R8 Mark II
  • USAC audio decoding on Windows 11

The update also improves NVIDIA decode memory usage for some R3D NE clips.

New Asynchronous APIs

DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1.1 adds asynchronous APIs for:

  • Quick Export
  • Transcription
  • Scene Cut Detection
  • Smart Reframe
  • Subtitle Creation

The ApplyGradeFromDRX API also adds an option to apply changes to all node layers.

Subtitles, Multicam and Timeline Fixes

The update addresses additional editing and timeline issues, including:

  • Auto Captions sometimes cropping in vertical timelines
  • Adding plain Text+ or MultiText to a subtitle track
  • Original media aspect ratio not honoring orientation
  • Multicam actions being unavailable in single viewer mode
  • Sync Bin multi-angle view not displaying record timecode and frame information

Collaboration and Other Stability Improvements

DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1.1 also includes:

  • Improved multi-user collaboration connectivity
  • A fix for an issue launching the application from AI Assistants on Windows
  • Data burn options for displaying source feet and frames
  • General performance and stability improvements

DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1.1 Project Compatibility

Before opening existing projects in DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1.1, Blackmagic Design recommends creating a full project library backup and individual project backups.

Blackmagic Design has maintained project library compatibility with DaVinci Resolve 20.3.2, but individual projects created or opened in 21.1.1 will no longer be accessible in 20.3.2.

Users and teams working across multiple Resolve versions should review this compatibility limitation before opening active projects in 21.1.1.
