Following the PFTrack 26.05.19 release, PFTrack introduces Hero Cloud, a new reconstruction node designed to generate 3D point clouds from a single tracked shot.
Hero Cloud extends PFTrack’s reconstruction pipeline by producing scene geometry without requiring LiDAR, photogrammetry datasets, or any additional on-set capture.
Hero Cloud generates a measured 3D point cloud directly from a tracked and solved plate using through-the-lens reconstruction.
It extracts spatial structure from the camera’s motion and image data within the shot to estimate scene geometry.
Hero Cloud is implemented as a node within PFTrack’s existing graph-based workflow and connects directly after Camera Solver.
It works alongside existing tools:
Hero Cloud adds a reconstruction option when no external capture data is available.
Hero Cloud is intended for production scenarios where only the plate is available:
It is designed for cases where the footage is the only usable spatial reference.

Hero Cloud reconstructs spatial data from what’s in the shot itself, the path forward when no dedicated capture was performed.
Hero Cloud produces a dense, measured 3D point cloud that can be exported or processed into multiple pipelines.
A new Postshot export node outputs Hero Cloud data in COLMAP format for use in Gaussian splat training pipelines, including Postshot and other COLMAP-compatible tools.
Hero Cloud output can be processed in Photo Mesh to generate textured meshes from a single tracked shot.
This enables a full workflow from: Tracked plate → reconstruction → mesh → DCC export.
Point clouds can be exported in standard formats:
These exports are used for layout, measurement, CG placement, and lighting reference across production pipelines.
Hero Cloud is designed to integrate into existing PFTrack setups without restructuring the graph.
A new viewer option allows alignment of the reconstructed point cloud with the active camera for verification against the original plate.
Hero Cloud works with footage supported by PFTrack, including:
Camera metadata is optional. PFTrack’s Camera Sensor Database can estimate missing parameters where required.
Shots with deliberate or natural camera motion produce higher-quality results.
The PFTrack 26.05.19 release introduced improvements across tracking and pipeline workflows in PFTrack.
Hero Cloud builds on that foundation by adding a new reconstruction method for single-shot inputs.
Together, these updates expand PFTrack’s ability to handle both planned capture workflows and unstructured production data.
Hero Cloud adds a practical reconstruction path inside PFTrack for situations where no LiDAR or photogrammetry data is available.
It enables production teams to generate usable 3D scene data directly from tracked footage and extend it into splat, mesh, or DCC workflows.
This expands PFTrack’s flexibility across both controlled capture pipelines and real-world production constraints.
