Krotos has released Human Sounds, the September 2026 content drop for Krotos Studio. The new pack adds 18 performable presets covering everyday human actions, physical details, crowd reactions, character callouts, voice textures, ambience, food, and drink.
Human Sounds became available in the Krotos Studio Library on September 3, 2026, for Krotos Studio and Krotos Studio Pro subscribers.
The collection is designed for scenes that need realistic human activity and reactions. Because the presets can be performed in real time, users can create different takes from the same preset rather than repeatedly using an identical recording.
Krotos Studio Human Sounds is a collection of 18 performable presets for creating human actions, reactions, vocal textures, ambience, and everyday activity.
The September content drop covers four areas:
These sounds can support a range of production workflows, including game audio, animation, film, documentary, broadcast, and other narrative content that requires believable human presence.
The body and physical section focuses on small human details and everyday actions that can add realism to a scene.
The six presets are:
These presets can be used to add character activity and physical detail without having to build each sound from individual recordings. A baby’s sounds can establish background activity, while actions such as a knuckle crack, skin scratch, or whistle can help make a character feel more physically present.
Human Sounds also includes five presets for cheering and vocal reactions:
These sounds can support scenes that need group reactions, background voices, or individual callouts.
Cheering presets can help create the sound of a stadium, event, or other large gathering, while the teenage callouts can be used for scenes involving younger characters and groups. Female Callouts can provide a distinct vocal reaction when a scene needs a character speaking or calling from within an environment.
Because the presets are performable, users can create different takes instead of repeatedly placing the same recording in a sequence.
The pack also includes four presets focused on voice textures and environmental atmosphere:
The whisper presets can provide quieter vocal textures for scenes that require close, subtle, or background human activity. They can also be used alongside dialogue or as part of a larger soundscape.
Retro News Show adds a broadcast-oriented voice texture, while Quiet Museum provides an ambience bed for establishing a particular environment.
Together, these presets extend Human Sounds beyond individual character effects and into atmospheric and dialogue-adjacent sound design.
For everyday character activity, Human Sounds includes:
These presets can be used when food and drink are part of the action or when a scene needs the subtle sounds of people interacting with their surroundings.
They can fit settings such as homes, offices, restaurants, social gatherings, and conversations where eating or pouring a drink helps make the environment feel occupied.
A key feature of the Human Sounds pack is that its presets are performable in real time.
Users can load a preset, press record, and move the XY pads while the sound plays. Krotos Studio captures that performance, allowing the resulting take to reflect how the preset was performed.
This means one preset can produce multiple different takes.
For example, a sound designer may need several cheering reactions in the same scene. Instead of placing the exact same recording on the timeline repeatedly, they can perform Male Cheering several times and capture a different version for each use.
The performances remain related because they are based on the same preset, but they are not identical recordings.
This can be useful for crowd reactions, callouts, repeated character activity, and other sounds where exact repetition can become noticeable.
Human reactions and activities naturally vary from one performance to another. A crowd does not respond in exactly the same way every time, and individual actions can have subtle differences depending on how they are performed.
That makes real-time control useful for human-focused sound design.
With a fixed sound recording, creating variation usually means finding another recording, editing the existing one, changing its processing, or using another method to alter the source. With a performable preset, the variation can come from the performance itself.
For productions that use the same type of human sound repeatedly, this provides a way to maintain consistency while avoiding exact duplicates.
The approach is particularly useful for crowd and callout scenes, where several related reactions may be needed throughout the same sequence.
The Human Sounds presets are mixed and finished, so they can be placed into a timeline as they are.
This means users do not have to assemble every sound from raw recordings before using it in a project. Additional editing or processing can still be applied when needed, but the presets are already prepared for use.
For editors and sound designers working on production schedules, this can simplify the process of adding human details to a scene.
The new content can be applied across several types of production.
Game audio designers can use the presets for NPC reactions, crowds, background characters, callouts, and other human activity.
The ability to perform a preset differently can also help when repeated reactions are needed throughout gameplay without making each occurrence sound exactly the same.
For film and animation, Human Sounds can provide character actions, crowd reactions, whispers, callouts, and background activity.
Small details such as eating, drinking, scratching, whistling, and vocal reactions can help reinforce the physical presence of characters in a scene.
The voice and ambience presets can support documentary and broadcast work that requires additional human atmosphere, vocal texture, or environmental sound.
Presets such as Retro News Show and Quiet Museum can also contribute to a scene's specific sonic character.
Human Sounds can also support narrative productions where characters need to feel present within their environment.
A scene may not require a major sound effect, but a whisper, callout, cheer, eating sound, drink pour, or small physical action can still add useful detail to the overall soundscape.
Krotos has previously released human-focused content for Krotos Studio, including Human Soundboard.
The September 2026 Human Sounds pack adds another collection of human-oriented presets, with a focus on everyday physical actions, crowd and character reactions, voice and ambience, and food and drink.
This makes the September content drop relevant for existing Krotos Studio users who want to expand the range of human sounds available in their workflow.
Human Sounds is designed for creators who need realistic human activity, reactions, and atmosphere in their projects.
It can be particularly useful for:
Game audio designers working with NPCs, crowds, and reactive environments.
Sound designers creating audio for film, animation, narrative content, and other character-driven productions.
Documentary and broadcast editors who need human ambience and voice textures.
Creators working with repeated human reactions who need variation without making every take sound unrelated.
The real-time performance workflow is especially useful when several versions of the same type of sound are needed throughout a project.
Krotos Studio Human Sounds is available in the Krotos Studio Library from September 3, 2026, for Krotos Studio and Krotos Studio Pro subscribers.
The September content drop adds 18 performable presets covering physical sounds, cheering and callouts, voice textures, ambience, food, and drink. The presets can be performed in real time using Krotos Studio's XY pads, giving users a way to create different takes from the same sound source.
For projects that require repeated human activity and reactions, this provides another flexible way to add variation while maintaining a consistent sound design approach.
