Sitni Sati has released FumeFX 7.5, introducing a new GPU solver and several tools for working with cached simulations after they are loaded.
The update adds the Multigrid PCG solver, Fast Upres, Retimer, and Memory Cache. It also improves shader sharpening, post processing, VDB workflows, and scattering, while fixing a range of cache, retiming, rendering, viewport, and stability issues.
FumeFX 7.5 adds a new Multigrid PCG solver for GPU simulations, with up to 2× the GPU simulation speed compared with PCG, according to Sitni Sati.
The previous CG solver has also been retired.
Fast Upres adds detail to cached simulations when they are loaded, without requiring the simulation to be re-run.
The new Retimer changes the playback speed of cached simulations without re-caching them.
This allows playback timing to be adjusted without generating a new cache.
FumeFX 7.5 introduces a Memory Cache that keeps loaded frames in RAM.
This keeps Upres, Retime, and Sharpen interactive during playback and timeline scrubbing.
Shader sharpening has been moved to the new Post Load rollout and is now unified across all FumeFX shaders.
The Post Processing rollout adds options to bake Retime, Fast Upres, and Sharpen using the same settings as the Post Load rollout.
Live cache retiming has also been moved to the Post Load rollout, allowing playback speed to be adjusted interactively without re-baking.
FumeFX 7.5 adds a new multiple scattering algorithm and removes the Maximum Depth parameter.
VDB workflow improvements include:
The update also addresses issues affecting cache files, retiming, VDB workflows, shaders, rendering, viewport updates, and application stability.
FumeFX 7.5 focuses on faster simulation and more control over cached results. The Multigrid PCG solver improves GPU simulation speed, while Fast Upres, Retimer, and Memory Cache make it possible to refine, retime, and review cached simulations without repeatedly rebuilding the original cache.
The update also improves VDB handling, shader sharpening, post processing, and scattering, alongside fixes for cache management, rendering, viewport behavior, and stability.
