The Pianoteq Steinway Model B brings the model of Steinway's beloved "medium grand" into your virtual studio. It embodies a balance between clarity and warmth, making it a versatile workhorse for home, studio, and performance settings. The modeling captures Steinway's string scaling, hammer voicing, and characteristic resonance behavior, including authentic overtones and the subtle interactions of strings and soundboard.
You have access to voicing controls, mic placement adjustments, and string parameter tweaks - so if you find the low end too metallic or bright, you can soften or extend certain tonal areas. Many users enjoy using Pianoteq's string length slider to reduce inharmonicity or to mellow the bass. The built-in presets help you navigate from smooth classical to pop or cinematic voicings.
Recent updates polished the tonal balance, reducing metallic artifacts, and enhancing clarity in midrange passages. The Model B model now sounds more integrated and musical across extremes of playing. Because of its smaller scale compared to larger grands, it is ideal when you want realism in a more compact virtual instrument.
The Steinway Model B in Pianoteq is a solid choice when you want Steinway character but with flexible control and adaptability in mixes.
