Not Sure What You Need Or If You're Looking At The Right Product?

KeyShot Studio VR is the add-on that takes your KeyShot Studio scenes out of the monitor and places them in a fully immersive virtual reality environment with a single click. Designed from the ground up for product designers, engineers, and marketing teams, it removes the guesswork from the design review process by letting you and your collaborators experience a product at true, life-size scale before a single physical prototype has ever been built. Rather than presenting a flat render on a screen and hoping everyone in the room interprets it the same way, KeyShot Studio VR puts every stakeholder inside the design itself - walking around it, inspecting fine details up close, and making informed decisions with confidence. As HP's Advanced Design and Strategy Team put it, KeyShot Studio VR lets teams experience the design much earlier in the process to get a better idea of the finished product in time to make critical changes.

Getting into VR is as straightforward as the rest of the KeyShot Studio workflow. Prepare your scene in KeyShot Studio - add materials, environments, and animations as you normally would - then press the KeyShot Studio VR button on the toolbar and put on your headset. That is the entire setup. There is no export pipeline to manage, no file conversion, and no specialist VR development skills required. Once inside, you can switch between material options, model sets, environments, and cameras using the in-VR tools, giving you all the flexibility of a full design review without ever having to remove the headset. KeyShot Studio VR can also be launched as a standalone application and loaded directly with a KSP or BIP file, making it accessible to team members who do not have a full KeyShot Studio subscription.

The VR experience itself is built on a physically based rendering engine that delivers accurate environment reflections across varying roughness levels on plastic and metal-like surfaces, as well as realistic color transmission on transparent materials including glass, liquids, and gems. Refraction is approximated for performance, which keeps the frame rate smooth while still producing a convincing visual result. Material baking is available to improve the representation of advanced materials like labels, metallic paint, and material graph outputs, and the system supports NVIDIA Variable Rate Shading to maintain high visual fidelity while maximizing frame rate on compatible hardware. Full HDRI environment support, ground shadows, background colors, and backplate images round out the rendering capabilities inside the headset.

One of the most compelling aspects of KeyShot Studio VR is its collaboration features, delivered through KeyShot Studio VR Connect. Using a LAN or VPN connection with no complex configuration required, multiple users around the world can join the same virtual space simultaneously, sharing the same scene and interacting with it together in real time. This opens up powerful use cases beyond the traditional design review - virtual showroom experiences where sales and marketing teams evaluate product variants in a real-world retail context, pre-production sign-off sessions where manufacturing teams inspect tolerances and assembly details, and collaborative ideation sessions where distributed teams explore and annotate a design together. Hosting a session is as simple as a point-and-click, making it accessible to everyone regardless of their technical background.

KeyShot Studio VR supports a wide range of headsets including Meta Quest and Rift series, Pico Neo series, SteamVR devices including Valve Index and HTC Vive, Varjo VR, XR, and Aero series, and Windows Mixed Reality headsets from HP and Lenovo, among many others - thanks to adoption of the open OpenXR standard. In-VR tools include a Move tool for repositioning objects, a Measure tool with snapping for precise dimensioning, a Cut Plane tool for cross-section inspection, a Pointer tool for guided presentations, sketch tools for in-VR annotation, and XR mode which replaces the virtual environment with real-world camera passthrough imagery for mixed reality review sessions. User scaling lets you adjust your apparent height anywhere from 1/1000th to 20 times your actual size, making it easy to inspect micro-scale details or review large products like vehicles and furniture at any perspective.
