KitBash3D and Greyscalegorilla have released updates to Cargo, bringing new lighting, asset management, plugin delivery, and workflow improvements to the platform. Cargo 3.3.0 introduces Snoot, a new Cinema 4D lighting plugin, along with faster delivery of plugins and scripts and drag-and-drop support for several asset types. Cargo 3.2.1 adds Greyscalegorilla Studio migration features, new Unreal Engine import options, and improvements to search, filtering, and downloads.
As an authorized reseller of KitBash3D and Greyscalegorilla, Motion Media highlights the key changes and what they mean for 3D artists and production workflows.
| Version | Key Updates |
| Cargo 3.3.0 | Snoot for Cinema 4D, faster plugin and script delivery, drag-and-drop assets, redesigned Tools navigation |
| Cargo 3.2.1 | Greyscalegorilla Studio Collections, Unreal Engine import options, improved filtering, downloads, search, and reliability |
Snoot is a Cinema 4D lighting plugin that adds a controllable hood to supported area lights, giving artists more precise control over the direction and placement of light.
Snoot works with Redshift, Arnold, and Octane area lights. When attached to an area light, it creates a hood in front of the light, automatically matching its size and applying the required visibility settings and material.
This provides a direct way to shape and control area-light output within a Cinema 4D scene. Snoot is available through the Cargo Tools page.
Cargo 3.3.0 changes how plugins and scripts are delivered through the Tools page. New tools and updates to existing tools can now be published to Cargo without requiring a new Cargo application update.
This separates tool releases from the Cargo desktop application's release cycle, allowing new plugins, scripts, and tool updates to appear on the Tools page as they become available.
Cargo 3.3.0 adds drag-and-drop support for Textures, Area Light Maps, Gobos, and Bokeh assets.
Users can drag a downloaded asset directly from the Cargo asset grid into their scene. Cargo delivers the selected asset variant as a file in the format expected by the connected software.
This reduces the steps required to move supported assets from the Cargo library into a production environment.
The Cargo Tools section has also been reorganized. Plugins and Scripts now have dedicated pages under the Tools sidebar, using the same breadcrumbs, filter bar, and browsing layout found throughout Cargo.
Existing Tools links continue to direct users to the appropriate location.
Cargo 3.2.1 focuses on asset organization, application connectors, and the transition from Greyscalegorilla Studio to Cargo.
Cargo 3.2.1 allows Greyscalegorilla Studio users to import existing favorites and playlists into Cargo as Collections.
Users can choose which sets to bring into Cargo or import everything through Settings. This preserves existing asset organization from Studio without requiring users to recreate those collections manually.
The Unreal Engine connector now lets users choose how assets are brought into a scene:
The Blueprint option also creates a Blueprint for single static-mesh objects, keeping the import behavior consistent for simple and more complex assets.
Tooltips have also been added to explain the available options.
Cargo 3.2.1 also standardizes terminology across supported integrations. 3ds Max, Blender, Maya, and Unreal Engine now use the term "connector" instead of "importer."
Cargo now includes a Kit filter for Textures and HDRIs in Browse. The filter is scoped to the selected library, while options with no usable selections are hidden.
The asset delivery workflow has also been clarified. The Send button is disabled when the target software is not connected, making the connection status more apparent. After an asset finishes downloading, the asset card displays "Send to [Software]" to make the next action clear.
Cargo also remembers the application's window size, position, and maximized state between launches. A saved window from a larger monitor is repositioned so it remains on-screen.
The updates also address several issues affecting asset discovery and application reliability.
Cargo 3.3.0 fixes a search issue that could cause only part of the matching results to appear while scrolling through the asset grid. It also corrects discrepancies between the displayed result count and the assets actually returned.
Other fixes include improved recognition for users with both Greyscalegorilla Studio and KitBash3D subscriptions, along with corrected help links associated with Error 101 and Error 102.
Cargo 3.2.1 adds a required-update screen for outdated desktop installations instead of sending users to an error page without a clear next step. It also fixes search visibility within Collections, improves purchase-status messaging when a purchase lookup cannot be completed, and addresses repeated page refreshes that could occur during sign-in.
Material and HDRI previews in the Collections grid have also been standardized for more consistent cropping.
The latest Cargo releases focus on reducing friction between finding an asset, organizing a library, accessing production tools, and getting assets into a connected application.
For Cinema 4D artists, Snoot provides more control over supported area lights, while drag-and-drop support makes it easier to move supported assets from Cargo directly into a scene.
For Greyscalegorilla Studio users, importing favorites and playlists as Cargo Collections makes it easier to retain existing asset organization.
For Unreal Engine artists, additional import options provide more control over how assets are brought into scenes.
For artists managing plugins and scripts, Cargo's updated Tools delivery system means new tools and updates can reach users independently of Cargo application releases.
