About David Torno

David Torno, is a Visual Effects Supervisor and Artist based in Los Angeles, CA. 2011 has marked David's eleventh year of designing and building computer generated visual effects. With over seventy projects under his belt, David has accumulated a multitude of skills, knowledge and understanding of the post-production process.
Starting in late 2008 David had been slowly making the transition from the creative environment to the technical environment, with After Effects scripting being a major bridge in that journey, his goal is to offer quality contributions back to the creative community that has and still is a big part of his life. To date David has built just under fourty scripts for inhouse use at Ghost Town Media and Plastic Cow. Some of those of which gave birth to the publicly available scripts David has offered at AEScripts.com.
In an ever changing industry, having a diverse bag of tricks to reach into has it's advantages. Every project presents new and challenging hurdles that must be overcome. Deadlines are never forgiving, so being able to automate and speed up your workflow on the standard tasks can gain back valuable time needed to troubleshoot more pressing issues within a project. Scripting is one of the best tools for this. For this reason David dove into After Effects scripting about three years ago, doing his best to teach himself and learn from the others in the scripting community. Over those three years David has managed to build an array of unique and powerful utility scripts that help in everyday workflows. His scripting tools have been most recently and extensively used on the last four Linkin Park music videos, "New Divide", "The Catalyst", "Waiting For The End" and "Burning In The Skies". As well as working directly with Tom Beddard of SubBlue to secure a proprietary plugin asset used within Linkin Park's "A Thousand Suns" Live Concert tour visuals. David is also known for his visual effects work on Flight of the Conchords: Ladies of the World, Pistol Youth's: In My Eye's (aka: The Golden Girls video), Sonny with a Chance: Opening Titles, Jonas L. A.: Opening Titles, Disco Biscuits: On Time, and Disco Biscuits: Widgets.
